日米外相は１２日に普天間移設問題を巡り、会談を行うという。
キャンベル米国務次官補は７日、「日本政府は普天間問題で時間が必要だとしているが、われわれは現行計画が最善だと信じている」「米国との緊密な協力の継続を求めるという、非常に明確な意思表明を望む」と述べたという。
さらに、両外相は北朝鮮とイランの核問題や米中関係、ビルマ（ミャンマー）問題なども協議する見通しを明らかにしたという。

My hope is that we have a say in the talk between the US and Japan ministry meeting regarding to the security of the region. I would assume that the government will use the cards wisely, as such issues as anti-whaling and bases. The agreements with the US is more important than any of the measures we take to reinforce our security, be it the budgets allocated to forces or our appeals of raising concerns of the danger of the military expansion of China, which is now building aircraft carriers costing twenty billion dollars.
