もちろん、朝日新聞は模範的な記事を書く、プロの集団である。その気になれば、「正確な記事」を書くこともできれば、「客観的な記述」も書けるし、わかりやすい「日本語の、標準」を作ったという誇りを持つ彼らである。では、なぜ主観に走り、つまらぬ打算をし、受け入れられそうにもない、あるいはまったく論理的でないあおりを、あえて記述するのかというと、そのことが、（「個人的」な反発ぬきで）事実を書くという、人間を書くという、物書きとしての、プロとしての意識に反しても、それを補う、それ以上の動機があると考えられる（そんなものがあっていいのか）。

襲撃されたLu Banglie議員の記事は、世界中の新聞で書いているのに、いまだに日本の新聞に記載されていない。政治面から見た中国、中国の民主化運動の報道を阻んでいるのは、日本の記者クラブなのか、中国政府なのか。

日経新聞が、その打算に社の生命をかけているとすれば、その前提条件や論理の面で、議論が足りない、ということよりないが、集団が大きいということは、必ずしも効率や成果に結びつかない、ということはある。彼らの考えるこれからの新聞が、どのような形態をとるのかが、興味深いところではある。

I wonder what could limit the number of the Self Defense Force personnels going to Pakistan -- or are there enough help already?

The possibilities are: 1. not enough media coverage, because of the ideological reasons not to show off military personnels. 2. not enough interests among Japanese people in foreign affairs. 3. the cost, provided by bureaucrats in fixed amount for fixed purposes and they have never thought of its use.

All of the above?

There would be certain number of the military personnels who are willing to say 'we can do this and we know how to deal with the situation, we will show that to you, we are proudly serving the people in Pakistan'. Money has no color to it. I am only hoping they will be showing our help on TV and the news. The people in Pakistan will need something out of us, even if the US seems to be in charge.

All right. It must be something like "we are happy on whatever the government is doing but not completely satisfied since that should not happen -- democracy should never give us the correct answers" and what else? "The bureaucrats are doing the right things and we admire their effort (of doing nothing)". The politicians never talk on anything other than their jobs, namely, to get elected -- never a word on their policies, let alone their philosophy (maybe except for our Prime Minister). Glory be to those who aim high -- to those in charge. Don't interfere with the life of an individual for Christ sake, and please do interfere with the public affairs.

義務を負う人間は、権利をも持つ。責任を負う人間が、すべての栄誉を手にする。
