The rules are simple enough. If you pay well for your ads, you get better articles for your company.

The corruption of the media -- the newspaper companies and its magazine and TV branch -- can be perhaps depicted by this, the BOOKOFF second hand book store. This company is well known for the those articles on newspaper and magazines -- "we buy your books at 10% of the price -- we sell them at half the price" (the prices of books are
fixed by the publishing companies in Japan). An official statement by the CEO but not the actual policies of the stores.

The fact is, they don't. There are a few buying standards for the books -- which buys your books, from 10 yen to 150 yen (rare). When we brought some 30 books and 15 magazines, we were told that "the condition of the books -- the papers were sun-burned -- we only take those four books at the price of 20 yen each."

So what was true of the articles on BOOKOFF was only this -- they only look at the paper quality of the books, and do not have any database that would affect the buying prices.

The books won't sell once you buy them, granted -- while the prices of them ranges from a few thousands yen up to tens of thousands yen, the use of the library should be encouraged. And the first and the last thing -- do not trust those corrupt newpaper articles -- they are paid off by the companies. The company is listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
