Their motive probably is not to keep the world in order, nor to protect the country. It could be to kill the enemies, to feel right. Therefore, they are not there to rule, nor even for profits. The huge spending money and lives on the military machine does not seem to bother them while it stopped short of making them think about the war. It must be something like "Listen, the enemies are there, Let's go and kill them."
There are articles of PTSD, the hardship that the soldiers face to adjust to society that hardly seem to notice what the war is. They do not recognize any intelligence outside its territories. No matter how they look in Iraq, among the poverty stricken rural areas in Afghanistan, the efforts to single out what really is the hierarchy in each society is the key to success.
The talks of collition in Afghanistan do not seem to be making progress. While each trying to rule over the other, the lack of order will results in extremists in terms of their interpretation of religious matters and in terms of the means of pursuing the objectives. They seem to be there yet to take interests in the intricacies of the power balance of the tribes.
On the other hand, there is a talk of sending the Japanese defense forces to Afghanistan. Total 140 civilians are already there for reconstruction works. The government is preparing for four billion dollar gift to the States for this sort of operations. Or is it this -- this sounds familiar -- you do not have to know all this? Money well spent?
